The Butcher has toured with the Cobras through South America last year.
So back in July 2012 former ‘The Academy Is…’ band member Andy Mrotek (better known as “The Butcher”) got mugged at his way home.
His friend and former bandmate Adam T. Siska says: “He ended up with both his eye sockets fractured, 25 stitches across his face, 30 stitches on his gum line, 20 stiches on his eyelids, 3 titanium plates screwed into his skull and has been in and out of the ER for surgery and countless doctors checkups for nose bleeding and intense ear, sinus, and facial pain. Like many Americans, Andy is without Health Insurance coverage. Each day as he is making strides to physically and emotionally recover from this experience, his hospital bills continue to grow and grow.
The members and former members of The Academy Is…, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, Fall Out Boy & Panic! At the Disco built a very strong bond over our years of making music and touring the world together. We all want to see to it that The Butcher is able to continue making music and art that inspires us— instead of spending his days trying to pay off a never ending debt due to this tragic event.
